The Area Around Clacton on Sea

The Ship Public House at Gt. Clacton
One of the oldest buildings in Gt. Clacton believed to date from the 16th century, it occupies a prominent position on the corner of land originally owned by the Manor Farm. It was once a popular meeting place for the village and manor courts.

This 18th century cottage at Gt. Clacton.
Once occupied by a Harness maker Arthur George Stearn who having succeeded his father George in 1874 traded up to 1930. The cottage remained in the Stearn family until 1963 when it became a private house. The property was previously occupied by Blacksmiths.

The Naze Tower was built in 1721 by Trinity House as a landmark for mariners. It still stands on the cliffs at the end of Walton but with the erosion it may not be there for much longer. |
