Yacht Aground
The Atlantic 75 was launched at just before 5pm
on Monday 30th June
to the 19 foot yacht “Callisto” which had run aground on the Swallow
Tail sandbank approximately seven miles south-south-west of Clacton.
The two people on board were being bumped along the sand and the Sea
King rescue helicopter was scrambled to the scene incase they needed
to be taken – off quickly. The lifeboat managed to reach them with a
tow rope and was able to pull the vessel into deep water. An
inspection showed the yacht had not been badly damaged and the tow
was taken by the Police launch “Vigilant” which was on patrol in the
area. The two then proceeded to Bradwell. The lifeboat was back on
station at 6.30pm.

Jet Ski
The Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 8.40pm
on Sunday 29th June
after reports were received of a jet ski broken down in Ray Creek,
Point Clear. The lifeboat arrived to find an adult and a child on
Cockle Island with the ski. They were taken to Brightlingsea and
landed at Point Clear. The lifeboat was back on station at 9.40pm.

Dinghy
The D Class lifeboat launched at 3.20pm on Monday 23rd June after reports were received by the coastguard of two youngsters having problems in a dinghy off Holland-on-Sea. Man with Knife
| The D Class lifeboat launched at 3.05pm on
25th June to stand by while police were dealing with a man wielding
a knife and threatening to throw himself from the pier. The police
were able to disarm him and make an srrest. The lifeboat returned to

Speed boat on mud
Clacton’s Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 7.15pm
on Saturday 21st
June
to a 17 foot speed boat which had broken down in the river Colne. On
arrival the crew found the craft high and dry on the mud between
Batemans Tower ( Brightlingsea ) and Arlesford Creek. On board were
two adults and two children. A member of the crew managed to get
across the mud with a tow line and the craft was pulled into the
water and towed to Brightlingsea. The lifeboat was back on station
at 9.15pm.

Swimmer in water
The “Atlantic 75” launched at 5.15pm
on Tuesday 10th June
after a report was received of a person attempting to swim from
Stone Point, East Mersea to Brightlingsea.The lifeboat stood by to
see the person safely ashore and returned to station at 6pm.

Speed Boat
Clactons “Atlantic 75” lifeboat launched at 5.35pm
on Sunday 25th May 2008
to go to the aid of an eighteen foot speed boat broken down off St
Osyth beach. The vessel was taken in tow and brought ashore at
Hutleys Beach. The lifeboat returned to station at 6.10pm.

Dog on rocks
The “D” class lifeboat launched at 7.30pm
on Monday 13th May 2008
after a dog was seen running loose on the rock breakwater off
Clacton golf course. The lifeboat was asked to check if anyone was
on the rocks perhaps having fallen as the dogs owner could not be
found. A thorough check found nothing and the lifeboat returned to
station at 8.10pm

Engine failure
The Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched shortly after 1pm
on 7th May 2008
to the aid of a fishing boat with engine failure. The day angling
boat “Warrior” with two people on board was near the North Eagle
buoy, one and a half miles south of Lee Over Sands. The vessel was
taken in tow to Brightlingsea and the lifeboat returned to station
at 2.30pm.

Kite surfer
The “D” class lifeboat launched at 7.45pm
on 8th May 2008
after reports were received of a wind surfer in difficulties off
Frinton. The boat was recalled by coastguards as it rounded Clacton
pier and returned to the boathouse.

Sick Child
Clactons Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 9.30am after an emergency
call was received from a yacht with a sick child on board.
The 34 foot “Isis” was in the Wallet Spitway, four miles south of
Jaywick when the alarm was raised. The child, about 18 months old,
and its mother were brought ashore to the boathouse where an
ambulance was waiting to take them to Colchester General hospital.
The lifeboat was back on station shortly after 10am.

Kite Surfer
The “D” class lifeboat launched at 2.30pm
on Thursday 17th April 2008
to three kite surfers off Lion Point, Jaywick, after one of them
became tangled in his lines. On arrival the crew found the three
making their way to shore and stood-by to see them safely on the
beach.
The lifeboat was back on station at 2.45pm.

Clacton's D-Clase lifeboat launched at 12.40pm Saturday 12 April 2008 to go to the aid of a kite surfer who had become tangled in his kite lines off Lion Point, Jaywick. Yacht Aground

The Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 11.30am on the 3rd January after a report was received of a yacht aground on the Mersey Flats. The twenty-two foot vessel, with one person on board, had grounded about a quarter of a mile north of the Molliette, a wreck between the mouths of the Blackwater and Colne Estuaries. The yacht was towed clear and continued its passage into Brightlingsea. The lifeboat was back on station at 1.30pm.

Missing Person
|
The Atlantic 75 launched at 2am on the 4th January after a report was received of a missing person in the Brooklands area of Jaywick. A combined search with police and coastguards was carried out but nothing was found. The lifeboat was stood down at 3.30am
