Kite Surfer
The “D” class lifeboat was launched at 3.10pm when a kite surfer was reported having problems a few hundred yards off-shore at Martello Bay. It appeared that part of his harness had come adrift. He was taken to the beach where he was met by the coastguard. The lifeboat was back on station at 3.30pm.

Engine Failure
The Atlantic 75 lifeboat was called at 11am on the 15th October 2005 after a small boat suffered engine problems off Lion Point, Jaywick. The boat with one person aboard was towed to the shore. The lifeboat was back on station at 12pm.

Fishing accident
The “D” class lifeboat launched at 1130am on Monday 3rd October 2005 after a report was received that a fisherman had suffered head injuries in an accident on his boat. The vessel was met off the pier and secured to the lifeboat mooring buoy. The fisherman, who was on his own, was brought ashore and taken by ambulance to hospital where it was confirmed that the injury was superficial. The lifeboat crew brought the vessel to the beach where it was put on its trailer and moved to the promenade. The lifeboat was back on station at 1230pm.

Speedboat
Clacton’s Atlantic 75 lifeboat was asked to launch at 4.45pm on Saturday 24th September 2005 when a speedboat with two people on board suffered engine problems. It had launched from Brightlingsea and had broken down to the west of Clacton pier. The lifeboat took her in tow back to Brightlingsea, returning to station at 6.50pm.

Man under pier
The “D” class boat launched at 4.20pm on Sunday 4 September 2005 when a person was seen in difficulties under the pier. It appeared the man had tried to swim through the pier and was found clinging to the west side of the structure in a somewhat distressed state. He was taken ashore where an ambulance was waiting. The lifeboat was back on station at 4.50pm.

Jet skis
The Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 9.10pm on Saturday 3 September 2005 to a report of two jet skis in trouble off Point Clear. It was dark, low tide and very misty. The two riders were found with one of the skis, the other was no-where to be seen. With visibility so bad, the coastguard will carry-out a search for the missing ski at first light.

Four in a row
Clacton’s Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 5pm on Sunday 28th August 2005 after a report of a jet ski in trouble on East Mersey flats. When the boat arrived the ski had been taken in tow by another boat and was on its way to Brightlingsea. The lifeboat crew checked to see them safely ashore.
They were then asked by the coastguard to go to Alresford creek where a speed boat was having engine problems. The boat with three people on board was taken in tow to Brightlingsea.
The coastguard then asked the crew to check-out a report of people seen on the number 28 buoy in Wivenhoe creek. The lifeboat arrived to find people swimming in the creek and sitting on the buoy!
On the way back to Clacton they were asked to check the area around Swire Hole, three and a half miles south of Point Clear, where a fishing boat had been seen in difficulties. Nothing was found and the lifeboat returned to Clacton arriving at 8.45pm.

Drifting Dingy

The “D” class launched at 3pm after reports of two people in a small dingy drifting out to sea off Jaywick. They were towed ashore.

At 12pm the Atlantic 75 went to two people in a small dingy off Jaywick. They were seen safely ashore. The 75 was used as the air ambulance was landing on the beach and the “D” class could not be launched

RIB off Holland Haven
Thursday 11 August 2005
The Atlantic 75 launched to aid an 8 meter RIB with four people on board half a mile off shore at Holland Haven. They had lost drive from the engine. A tow was put aboard and they headed toward Frinton where they were met by the Walton lifeboat who took over the tow and proceeded to Titchmarsh Marina. Wind force 3-4 SW Sea choppy.

Fishing Boat off Martello Bay

While out on exercise at about 8pm, the Atlantic 75 went to the aid of a small fishing boat with engine trouble off Martello Bay. The boat was towed to shore.

Jet ski
Clacton’s Atlantic 75 lifeboat had just launched on exercise at 7.30pm when a report was received that a jet skier was in difficulty off Frinton. The report was very sketchy but it appeared the ski had broken down and the rider was trying to swim ashore. The lifeboat crew arrived and made sure that both craft and rider were safely on the beach. We later discovered that the ski had been left on the beach and had drifted off with the tide, the rider trying to swim after it.

Dingy off Sandy Point
Clacton’s relief lifeboat launched at 7.15pm after a small dingy was reported in difficulties off Sandy Point, Point Clear. When the lifeboat arrived they found the dingy safely ashore, and so returned to the boathouse.

Red Flares
Clactons’ relief Atlantic 21 lifeboat was called at 1.20am to investigate a report of red flares in the area of Martello Bay. Nothing was found and the lifeboat returned at 3am.

Yacht `Absolute`
At 3.15am the boat was re-launched after the yacht “Absolute” reported her prop fouled by rope. She was near the North West Knoll buoy about two miles off Point Clear and had two adults and two children on board. She was taken in tow to Brightlingsea. The lifeboat was back on station at 5.30am.

Body on the Rocks
Clactons’ “D” class lifeboat was launched on Thursday 26th May 2005 to recover a body from rocks on the eastern seashore which had been reported by a member of the public. The body was taken to the pier.

Children on the Rocks
The “D” class was launched at 1pm on Monday 30th May 2005 when three children were reported in difficulty on rocks at Martello Bay. They were helped to the beach by coastguards and the lifeboat was not required.

Attempted suicide
Clactons’ D class lifeboat was asked to stand-by on Wednesday 20th April 2005 while police dealt with an attempted suicide at the end of the pier. The lifeboat launched at 4.50pm and was stood-down at 6pm. No action was required.

Incident with Police
Clacton lifeboat launched at 8.30pm on Thursday 14th April 2005 to stand-by while police dealt with an incident on one of the groynes to the east of the pier. No action was needed and the lifeboat was stood down about 10pm.

Two men in Arlesford Creek
Clactons’ Atlantic 75 lifeboat was launched at 8.30pm on Friday the 8th April 2005 when coastguards reported two men in difficulties in Arlesford Creek. They were in a small tender and one had fallen into the water. The lifeboat picked them up and took them to Brightlingsea where they were meet by the coastguards.The lifeboat was back on station at 10.30pm.

Don’t Panic
Clacton’s Atlantic 75 lifeboat launched at 3.20pm on Saturday 29th 2005 to a 23 foot angling boat “Don’t Panic” which had engine problems. She was in the area of the North Eagle buoy about one and a half miles off Point Clear. She was taken in tow to Bradwell Marina. The lifeboat was back on station at 6pm.
